Tekken was born at Namco,a Japanese company who gave birth to the very great PacMan success during the years of the NES.Project in 1993,in arcade during the summer 1994,Tekken revolutionizes fighting games.First fighting game in 3D,more than sixty images a second, success is guaranteed and the game arrives on the playstation(Sony) in March 1995.Sold more than one million,Tekken starts a long career.

Tekken 2 was very awaited and brought only the best. Moreover, the story becomes increasingly complex in particular with the very charismatic Heihachi and Kazuya. The improvements are enormous compared to the first game and CG sequences are numerous and very beautiful.

And success continues. The famous Tekken 3 arrives and it was like a hurricane. The game converted many players and is always today the best fighting game on PlayStation. Tekken 3 joins together all that made the success of its predecessors:splendid CG sequences, incredible gameplay, charismatic characters.

Then Namco tests another platform, WonderSwan(Bandaï).Tekken Card Challenge arrives in 1999 and is a fighting game with cards. There is also a story mode who look like a small RPG.

March 31, 2000.PlayStation 2 is sold in the Japanese stores at the same time as Tekken Tag Tournament. Some innovations with the very interesting Tag mode, which makes it possible to play with two characters in team. This system revives the interest of the play by thus creating new techniques. All the characters of all Tekken are finally joined together, which means that the story does not exist in TTT.Admired in Japan but criticized in Europe, the series does not have as many success as the preceding episodes. However TTT remains a very good play.

Then, Namco develops Tekken Advance on GameBoy Advance(Nintendo) at the end of 2001 for Japan. It quickly becomes one of the most successful games on the GBA with its astonishing graphics and an excellent gameplay.

Tekken 4...We can say that it was very awaited! But still a Tekken with polemic, in particular on the level of the design of the characters.Ugly for some, splendid for others, all is question of taste. In this episode the arenas are closed and the Tekken Force mode returns in 3D.Tekken 4 was very innovating but a lot of fans did not like the recasting of the gameplay. The opinions were divided.

First time in the story of Tekken: a character has her own game ! Nina Williams, the hero of Death by Degrees, comes on PS2 in spring 2005. The success is mitigated. Death by Degrees could be an excellent game with a beautiful chara design, if its gameplay had been thought differently. It seems that Death by Degrees is only the beginning of the games with a Tekken character as hero. Hope that Namco will erase its erros.

March 31,2005.Namco celebrates the 10 years of the series with the exit of Tekken 5 in Japan. The latest of Namco retrieves its origins. Exit the new gameplay of Tekken 4, Tekken 5 is a "Tekken classic", for the joy of most of players. The new things are the Customization mode, which allows you to customize your favorite character, the ranks in Arcade mode and the adventure / beat'em all game Devil Within.

A few months after Tekken 5 on consoles, the arcade version got an extension, Tekken 5.1, and a big update of the game is awaiting, with new characters and new stages, under the name of Tekken 5 : Dark Resurrection. This game is avalaible on PSP and in donwload on the PlayStation Store.

The end of the year 2007, Tekken 6 hits the arcade, two years after the first video shown during E3 2005 ! We have to wait two more years, so the end of the year 2009, that Tekken 6 hits consoles next-gen : PlayStation 3, XBox 360 and PSP. Tekken 6 becomes Bloodline Rebellion, it has 41 characters, the highest numbers of fighters ever. Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion won the prize "Best Fighting Game" of year 2009 at 'E3 2009.

Who will win the tournament ? Kazuya ? Jin ?
